[upbeat music] All righty. We are here. It is Tuesday, June 30th, 2026. I am Peaches. If you wanna get ahold of me, you can over at 208-535-1015. Uh, I saw this get posted by one of my favorite radio pages. I'll call them Crappy PD. It's the more explicit version of that name, but I'll just call them Crappy PD right here on the air. Um, they highlighted one of the worst radio jobs I have ever seen in my entire life. iHeartMedia is one of the worst companies to work for when it comes to broadcasting. Um, I was an intern there at the Burbank location, uh, for my senior year, my f- my, my fall senior semester. I got to see what it was like, uh, sort of working for the Ellen K. Morning Show on Coast 103.5. And even back then, they were randomly just laying people off. They had one of the biggest layoffs ever. One-- Th- th- they got rid of almost, like, all of their staff across the country. Radioinsight.com put out a full list of every single employee that has been laid off, and some of those people were at, were at those stations for decades. They just all of a sudden either got that email or were told in person, "Hey, you're no longer gonna be an employee here." Could you imagine that?
One of the DJs that my mom used to listen to, and he was still on the air, uh, with me growing up, Coast 103.5, Mark Wallengren, he was at that station for 33 years, I believe, and I think he got fired via text message, which is almost slightly better than going to, like, the Dua Lipa conference room. Because every, every room i- at iHeartMedia is named after a pop star. There's, like, the Taylor Swift break room, the Dua Lipa conference room, the Sam Smith water cooler, you know?
Imagine you get let go in the Dua Lipa conference room. Well,
I saw this g- this job get posted after they already fired so much of their staff.
They decided to post a second executive assistant position to the president and COO,
and it's in New York, their iHeartMedia office in New York. You already know how much of a dump New York is, how they're dealing with, oh, oh, their subways just got new toilet seats. Yay! But they're also dealing with mutant rats and all of that. We talked about that on the show last week. While I'm seeing the full job description here:
compensation, salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data. You'll be making $28 to $36 an hour in New York, out of all places, and you know this is in the middle of the city,
and you're gonna have to live relatively close by. You know how, how much rent is in New York. Significantly worse than any other place out there. $28 to $36 an hour to not be the first assistant, no, to be the second executive assistant to the president and COO. That's coming after the fact they just fired everybody in that building.
G- give me a break, dude. iHeartMedia, iHeartUnemployment. That's what they should change their name to. Anyway, it's Peaches' Pit Party right here on K-Barra 101. Um, we'll talk about some more uplifting stuff, I guess, uh, here in just a few. We'll, we'll, we'll see. [whooshing sound] K-Barra 101. It's Peaches' Pit Party. [playful music] So I said I was gonna find something more uplifting to talk about, but, uh,
I was just staring at that job opening, the second executive assistant to the president and COO of iHeartMedia,
and I was just laughing the whole time 'cause I could only imagine
somebody wanting to get into the radio industry,
and they just see this opening. They go, "You know what? This is the perfect opportunity for me. I get to work in-office,
not be the f- not be the first assistant, be the second assistant to this one person who just absolutely sucks and has let so many people go,
more than likely to have this position available. I need two assistants. I'm that kinda guy."
I can only imagine having, having the ability to have an assistant, having someone help you out with everything that there is.
"Uh, I need help, uh, firing these employees. Could you, uh, could we get the second executive assistant to fire this DJ that was on this, uh, top 40 station for the past, uh, 25 years here at iHeart? Can we, uh, use our second a- assistant to let him go?"
[laughs] This is just a-- I could go, I could go on and on about this. But what's even worse is that
over 100 people applied for this position. Says right there, over 100 applicants. It's posted on LinkedIn.
What's their, uh, rating on Glassdoor? You know what? Forget it. I don't wanna keep putting the spotlight on this, uh, stupid job opening. [laughs] Do not work for iHeartMedia. If you ever thought about it, if you've ever thought about it, please don't do it. Here's Social Distortion, [clears throat] "Born to Kill." I'm losing my voice 'cause I'm so distraught by this, uh, this job opening. Anyway, it's K-Barra 101. [whooshing] Of course, this weekend we got the Idaho Falls Community Hospital Riverfest presented by ICCU and Riverbend Media Group. There's gonna be tons of food vendors over there at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. And you know what?
I'm gonna stick to my diet still. I'm gonna be that guy. I, I, I've been that guy. My friends have invited me places.
Um, my friends Bryson and Charlotte more specifically. My other-- my, my friend Brian too. My friend Brian invited me to Alberto's, and I think I talked about this in the show. I, I've been so strict with my diet 'cause I'm trying to lose all this weight,
and I'm trying to just alter my life, turn my life around. My friend Brian invites me to Alberto's late at night. It's like nine thirty, which is late at night for some people.
And he's-- he gets the carne asada burrito. Alberto's has some great food, but I'm just still sticking with my diet. He's like, "You sure you don't want anything?" I'm like, "No, I'm good, dude. I'll just talk to you." And I hate to be that guy talking to somebody while they're the only person eating, 'cause I would hate to be the one person eating talking to somebody who's not eating. But still, I just, I, I made sure not to make it awkward, you know? I wouldn't just, uh, I wouldn't-- if, if he took a bite, I looked the other direction. [laughs] But a-another...
So many food vendors this weekend, and I should be that guy. I wanna be that guy that brings, like, my Tupperware with my chicken and rice and vegetables. I'll do a Walmart pickup order.
What if you see me at the Stone's Kia Kid Zone with just this bin, this little, these two tubs of, well, one's my lunch, the other one's dinner. Well, you know what? I, I g- I get there at, like, three thirty, so
I'll just need my, I'll just need my one, my one dinner, my small little dinner. Maybe I'll have one of those prepackaged meals
that my, uh, awesome coworker, Justin Pierce of 105 The Hawk got me. Bring one of those, have it already microwaved. [laughs] Just walk to the Stone's Kia Kid Zone already eating it,
or just save it. Let it get slightly cold for two hours. Be like, "All right, it's five thirty. Time to eat."
Have this like-- oh, forget it. Never mind. Anyway, you should make your way to the Idaho Falls Community Hospital River Fest presented [laughs] by ICCU and Riverbend Media Group this weekend. You really should. It's gonna be the last time for the foreseeable future that we see something like this, the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration. Over eighteen thousand nine hundred shells. I'll be for sure as close as possible to the show, taking it all in for one last time. You see, the problem with doing two different radio shows at the same time
makes me confused on what exactly I talked about, uh, yesterday. I think I mentioned this on the Z103 afternoon show. In case you were unaware, I am now the program director of Z103, and I'm doing the afternoon show on that station as well, in addition to doing Peaches Pit Party. So I'm doing two different radio shows. Well, not necessarily two different radio shows. It's sort of similar but, you know, over there you get Brendan Peach. Here you get Peaches, and [laughs] there's not really much of a difference there. I'm still gonna talk about what I'm gonna talk about, but I'll kind of, uh, tone it down on Z103 like I'm talking to my own mom. Some-- I would never mention this on the air. Well, I did mention that yesterday
my friends, well, my two friends, they, they moved in with each other 'cause they're, they're engaged now, and they moved in with each other, and they decided to adopt two kittens. And I was getting rather annoyed because, um, the g- I would play games with, with the guy of the couple, the, the dude who I've known for a little while now. I'm gonna keep their, keep them anonymous here on the air. Um, I, I, I'll play games with him, but then his girlfriend will be, or his fiancée I should say, will be like, "Hey, come over here and look at the kitten. Look at the kitten. Look what the kitten's doing. Look at the kitten." And then he'll be like, "Oh, okay" and then just get up and go take a look at the cat, and then he'll be gone for fifteen minutes. We're in the middle of a boss battle on, like, Grounded 2,
and he'll just be taken away like that. "I need to go look at the kitten. I'll be back," Peaches
r-runs, puts the, throws the mic down. Well, yesterday
he was already gone for whatever reason. Comes back,
and I'm like, "All right, dude. You ready to face..." In, in Grounded 2 you're shrunken down to the size of a bug.
So I'm wanting to defeat a boss with him. I'm like, "Hey, man, we should go to this particular anthill, make our way down into the k- the, the dark trenches of this thing and face against, face off against the cockroach queen, who's a giant boss."
We get down there finally.
His cat, his kitten has diarrhea,
and so he jumps off and is gone in the middle of the boss fight. I'm screaming. I'm getting frustrated. "What's going on? What are you doing? Why are you standing there letting the boss hit you?" And all I hear is him, him and her arguing in the [laughs] far back of the room.
Now I just laugh at it because why get frustrated, you know? If your cat is having, uh, uh, if your cat is having issues, please take care of your pets before worrying about a virtual fight. I mean, we could fight that boss anytime, but your cat, your cat has diarrhea, man. You gotta take care of that. But it was just, it was just such a funny situation last night. It wasn't funny at the time, but now it is. Here's Greta Van Fleet, Play Your Games on K-Bear [laughs] one oh one. Wow, it's almost July, and we're talking about Hallmark Christmas movies in the Shot Clock Sports Update. The Chicago Bears are the latest NFL franchise to get the Hallmark Christmas movie treatment. Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story will premiere during Hallmark Channel's seventeenth annual countdown to Christmas this fall. No cast has been announced, but it will film around the Chicago area this summer. It's the third time the NFL and Hallmark have teamed up for a Christmas film. They did the Kansas City Chiefs in twenty twenty-four, the Buffalo Bills in twenty twenty-five. I believe Richard Christie of The Howard Stern Show was on the Kansas City Chiefs', uh, was in the Kansas City Chiefs Chris- Hallmark Christmas movie. M-Maybe I should audition to be a part in one of those things. Wouldn't that be hilarious? Uh, y-y-your, your wife, your girlfriend all of a sudden turns on a Hallmark Christmas movie. You just see my face pop up. I'm that guy that tells the person to stay in their small town, you know? [laughs] In soccer news, when the US takes on Bosnia-Herzegovina Wednesday night in Santa Clara, California, in the round of 32 World Cup matchup, keep an eye on how the US players get under the skin of their opponents. US team captain Tim Ream, who's the oldest player on the team, such an old age, 38 years old, how ancient, says that one thing his young teammates are good at is rage baiting. He, he probably learned that word from one of his kids. Uh, Ream explains, "We've learned over the course of the last 20 months with Mauricio Pocheche- Poche- Pochettino and his staff how to touch the line without crossing the line, and we've also learned that if teams wanna get chippy, we're gonna give it right back to a certain point." Wow. Good way to make soccer entertaining, at least. He learns what rage bait is and goes, "You know what? Sure, let's go with that." Plenty of NFL players have spoken up about the World Cup matches being played on natural grass surfaces, even in stadiums that have artificial turf for NFL games. Here's another wonky stadium issue. During Dallas Cowboys games at AT&T Stadium, players and fans have to deal with bright sunshine coming through windows on the western side of the venue. Players have to look right into the sun while they're playing because of those windows. But during a World Cup match between Japan and Sweden, AT&T Stadium installed black curtains to block the sun. And everyone knows once football season rolls around, those curtains will be gone, and the NFL players will just have to deal with staring into the sun when the season starts. At least they make millions upon millions of dollars, and they're just fine. That does it for your [laughs] Shot Clock Sports Update right here on KBEAR 101. [whooshing] Yesterday, uh, after the show was over, I got a little upset, a little, uh, anxious because I got home and Amazon told me my new $60 trash can was delivered, and we talked about it on the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem yesterday. Me and FJ talked about how the, uh, the trash can, my, my, my front door is hard to find. Um, it wasn't necessarily a challenge for somebody to come by and try stealing this trash can or hiding it from me. So I show up to my place yesterday, and my trash can is not at the front door. [upbeat music] So I panicked a little,
but then I went, "You know what?
It, it couldn't be in the mailbox 'cause it's too big for that. Where could it possibly be? Who would take such a box?" 'Cause I've never dealt with anything, any theft before at my place, knocking on wood.
"Where could it possibly be at?"
And then I went up the stairs and saw they delivered it to apartment eight for whatever reason. The numbers are right above the doors of each apartment. Mine has, mine has my number. I was about to say the number. I'm like, "You know what? Maybe I should not give that out."
So I was thinking, "How could you, how could you mess that up? How could you think my apartment was that apartment, even if you see the number right there above the door?"
And I'm, I'm, I'm so glad that that person wasn't home because I, I've only ever seen the guy, and he seems like the type of dude that would potentially take my trash can, and I would've had to like, you know, go up there and apprehend him. "Hey, give me back my expensive trash can that I wasted so much money on." Sure enough, I got it downstairs, opened it up. The box made it look so much bigger than what it actually is. You open up the box. There's the actual box with the trash can inside. You have to open the second box,
take out the trash can. You have to put in four double A batteries, which I feel like is just outrageous for a trash can, really. I'm over here complaining about trash cans. I'm the stupid one that spent the 60 bucks on it. And I have to put in four double A batteries every time, and it, it even says on the instructions, "Hey, if the lid doesn't open all the way and it's opening a whole lot slower, you'll have to replace the batteries." Replacing the batteries on a trash can out of all things. And I spent a lot of money on this thing. Maybe I'm the genius of the day right here on KBEAR 101. [whooshing] I guess this could qualify for, uh, cue the outrage. I just saw this, uh, Fox News article pop up that says how capitalism missed out and failed to capitalize on America's 250th anniversary. I guess people are upset that there aren't enough America's 250th birthday merch being sold out there, the fact that we need more.
And I was talking with Victor about it this morning. Wouldn't they have, like, all of this stuff at Walmart just right there up front?
Imagine they have, like, those plastic sunglasses that have the, uh...
Y- you know, you know those sunglasses that get handed out, uh, on New Year's Eve that have the year? And it doesn't really make any sense anymore to have those because we're in 2026 and not 2008. Like, that's when it would, that's when it worked out perfectly because your eyes would go where the zeros are. Now it's 2026 and they still make those, and it's like, why? Why do we still need... The, the... It doesn't make... Forget it. But
the Fourth of July sunglasses, I could see those being sold. I'm sure, I'm sure if I did a quick Google search, Fourth of July sunglasses.
There they are for $2.77.
Red, white, and blue. Now let's do Fourth of July,
America's 250th birthday.
If I can type it out. Birthday sunglasses. Yeah, right there. USA 250.
Plenty of different options. I see a patriotic cap,
circular sunglasses,
one that says America real big.
I'm sure th- they're being sold out there. It's just that, why was there a whole article dedicated to this? We failed. We failed to capitalize on America's 250th anniversary. No, we did not. Make your way, by the way, to Snake River Landing. For the Idaho Falls Community Hospital River Fest presented by ICCU and Riverbend Media Group. So that way, you can celebrate America's 250th birthday the right way, by watching the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration. Over 18,900 shells, all in like 30-something minutes, synchronized to music on our sister station, Classy 97. It is gonna be one of the best shows you will ever see. It's Peaches Pit Party right here on K-Bear 101. Why not talk about, uh, terrible driving by playing some Gin and Juice behind me from Snoop Dogg?
According to AAA... I got this random email from some person I don't even know. Maybe this guy just sends this out to, uh, radio DJs across, uh, ac- across Idaho. Maybe I should ask, uh, Big Jay and Nick over at 100.3 The X if they got [laughs] this email from Mark Bolsa.
It says, "Hey Brendan, I hope you are well." And then goes right into, uh, driving data about Idaho drivers. Over 30% of fatal driving crashes occur during the summer vacation between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which is why we here have teamed up with Brent Gordon Law, because K-Bear 101 cares that we are in the 100 deadliest days of driving.
A new report reveals the, the U.S. states with the worst drivers based on the number of non-fatal accidents, DUIs, and speeding-related offenses in each state. 11.5% of drivers have received a speeding ticket in the last six months for Idaho. So I guess there's that. 20.1 accidents per 1,000 drivers. There's a whole bunch of, uh, statistics here. The full study's available here. It even says, "Idaho..." The, the subject line of this email, "Idaho drivers among the worst in the U.S., according to new data." Where's my air horn? [imitates air horn] [laughs] I don't have it set up, so I'll just, I'll just mouth it, I guess.
K-Bear 101 and Brent Gordon Law cares. Be extra cautious out there, all right? Jokes aside, be extra cautious. Be safe, especially with the millions of people driving this weekend for the 4th of July celebration. You know how New York has been dealing with, uh, mutant rats, which is also, uh, one of the greatest things that could happen to you if you apply for that iHeart, uh, Media position for the second executive assistant that we talked about earlier on in the show.
I've been making fun of that, uh, that job opening this entire time. I just can't believe that that's an actual job. Do you put that on your resume? "I was the second executive, uh, assistant to the CEO and... or COO and president of iHeartMedia. I got promoted to first,
uh, six months after because iHeartMedia fired the first assistant, and then they fired me too two months after that," 'cause they fire everybody. [laughs] Anyway, enough of me talking about that. No, I wanted to talk about something even worse. Um, the city of Chicago. This guy in, uh, Rogers Park, is that what it's called? This, uh, Chicago man says he's be- he's been dealing with a rat infestation for months. You know, New York and Chicago, they have this battle between the two cities on who is the rattiest city in America. This is just downright disturbing. Rats. Uh, he recently woke up in the middle of the night to rats crawling on him and biting his face. He says he had recently, uh, repeatedly complained about the problem before it happened, while the property's management says, "Oh, we've invested heavily in improvements," and dispute some of the tenant's claims.
I don't even know what the next step is after that, because how do you go back to sleep?
You, you, you don't. Every piece of fuzz touching your arm for the next five years is gonna give you PTSD. It's gonna make you jump three feet in the air. You tell your boss why you're late, "It was rats. Rats biting my face."
I don't care if the apartment comes with free Wi-Fi, a pool, covered parking, in-unit l- laundry. The lease is over. The rats have officially won. They can take my lease. They can pay the rent, considering how crazy rats have become. Some people worry about burglars, their place being haunted. No, rats biting your face in the middle of the night. I've been giving New York a hard time lately. Somehow, it just keeps delivering. You ready for this latest news here?
Uh, the singer Jack Johnson visited the famous Mineral Springs in Saratoga Springs and described the water as like swallowing a fart.
Now listen, if your city's biggest tourist attraction comes with the warning, "Yeah, it tastes terrible," we've got a branding issue.
Again, this is New York, where they have mutant rats, they got brand-new toilet seats in the subway [laughs], and they're also hiring at iHeartMedia New York for that second executive pos- uh, assistant position. [laughs] I keep bringing that stupid job opening up. This, this whole afternoon show is gonna be me ragging on that stupid job and how terrible New York is.
It, it's so funny how people glorify New York to be this amazing place. I mean, not necessarily anymore, especially now when you get access to articles like this. Jack Johnson, out of all people, saying, "Yeah, the water tastes like a fart."
[laughs] Oh, man. New York better clean itself up. I, I... It's, it's getting to the point where it's just... Uh, like nobody's gonna live in any big cities anymore. Everyone's gonna leave those places like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and they're just gonna continue to invade these other states
that are then gonna, gonna become filled up, and then people in these states are gonna get mad, and it's this whole cycle,
all because... Well, New York just sucks, all right? If you wanna go vacation there, good luck. Here's Scatterbrain, Fast Lane, on K-Bear 101. Which place has the worst parking lot in East Idaho? I'm talking about, like, Walmart, for example, Costco, WinCo, Sam's Club maybe. I feel like WinCo has the worst parking lot. Costco has
A lot of spaces, a lot of people still shopping there at the same time. But
WinCo, for some reason, that parking lot is just outrageous, no matter what the time is.
Could be two in the morning, still crowded there for whatever reason. Maybe it's because I frequent WinCo. Well, I, I used to frequent WinCo quite a lot. Well, now sometimes I'll go there in the morning to grab my favorite drink. That is the Alive Mushroom Elixir.
Sometimes I'll bring Maddie one from down the hall. She calls me the Magic Mushroom Man, which I don't know how I feel about that nickname. Kinda feels, uh, dirty.
Alive Mood & Mind Chill Out Cola.
It's the only thing I'm drinking besides water. I am that guy that is sticking to my diet. I, I've become a hydro homie, a tea-head, maybe a tea bag.
I, uh, have completely cut out soda since May 14th,
and sometimes when I allow myself to have a cheat meal from Taco Bell, I'll, I'll, I'll order through the app,
and I'll get the, uh, Deluxe Cravings Box. Why is the music bed so loud? Let me turn this down. I'll order the Deluxe Cravings Box, which you're forced to get a drink with that, so I go, "Nope, nope, you're not tempting me, Taco Bell."
So then I'll take the Pepsi that comes with the box, and I'll dump it down the sink. That, or I'll just chuck it right into the dumpster. I know it's a waste of Pepsi.
But I will, like, sort of yell, "Kobe!" And then just throw the cup of soda into the dumpster. If I miss, well, I mean, it's a ghetto alleyway where the dumpster is, so it's not ne-necessarily the worst liquid that you could find on the ground.
Pepsi just spilt all over the place. Maybe the squirrels will like it. They're hooked onto the sugar. The lady that lives next to me, she leaves out a plate of peanuts for, for the squirrels, and so now they're all over my building and also the dumpster. So maybe if I throw the Pepsi [laughs] into the dumpster, the squirrels will all of a sudden just get a nice sticky Pepsi shower. They get all mad. They start f- they start thinking it's the lady doing that to them. They start targeting the lady. I, I do my best to shoot the, uh, the Pepsi
like the basketball star that I am, make it into the dumpster. And then I run into my apartment and see what the squirrels do, see if they're even inside the dumpster, see if they get freaked out. Here's Evanescence, "Afterlife" on K-Barre 101. All righty, it's Peaches Pip Party right here on K-Barre 101. I, I still f- I, I find this [laughs] hilarious. What is the worst career to get into in 2026? Well,
it, it certainly seems like radio thanks to iHeartMedia. I'm gonna spend this entire show just making fun of that company.
If you, if you haven't been tuned in this entire time, at the beginning part of my show, I... Well, before I even started the show, I saw this post from one of my favorite radio accounts to follow on Instagram. They're called Crappy PD, the more explicit version of that, and they had shared an iHeartMedia position opening in New York that was not just a, an, an assistant to the president and COO of the company. No, it's the second executive assistant. iHeartMedia, keep in mind, they just fired a whole bunch of their employees nationwide, and you can find the full list of all those poor people, all those people now out of a job, by going to radioinsight.com. There's a full list of all those DJs that were just randomly let go, some of which were there for decades.
They're gone now, unfortunately. I mean, they're still alive,
but they're just n-not working at iHeart anymore because they just decided to randomly, uh, fire those people. And then they wanna hire a second executive assistant to the president and COO of the company. So my answer to that question, what is the worst career to try to get into in 2026? Uh, radio, especially if you're trying to aim for the bigger market. I had to text my friend John, make sure he was okay. He's the co-host of Valentine in the Morning on 104.3 My FM.
Lu-luckily, he's okay. Nobody in Los Angeles seemed to be affected by this. It was more so, uh, New York, uh, all the other states. [laughs] All the other big markets were drastically affected. Tons of people on Facebook, tons of people on LinkedIn saying they're open to work.
Some people were saying on this thread for what is the worst career to try to get into in 2026, "I've been working in the video game industry for over 21 years, but when I first started, they were hiring anybody off the street with technical knowledge at a, as a, as junior level. It was pretty easy getting your foot in the door if you can prove you had some, if you had some know-how and willing to learn. It's, it feels rare seeing anybody below senior level these days, and with the constant layoffs in the industry in recent years, it's not even safe for veterans anymore." Going back to the whole radio thing.
"Data entry's the worst. My company just automated the whole department. Now nobody's hiring for it." "A newspaper reporter," wow.
Anything in gaming? Well, I guess gaming is similar to, uh, radio. Constant layoffs, overworked, underpaid. Gaming, radio, hand in hand together. K-Barre 101 all this week. Win tickets to go see Papa Roach, Set It Off, Autumn Keane live at the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheater in Pocatello. We're doing things the old-fashioned way with this giveaway. Just gotta listen for that cue to call, be caller, whatever we, uh, we say for that time at 208-535-101 time and win tickets to that awesome show. It's what I'm looking forward to after the Fourth of July. You always have to have something to look forward to. Um, and, you know, the Fourth of July coming up, we got the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, the largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi. Then after that, we kinda don't really have anything besides that show, that concert, and then after that, well, I look forward to my 30th birthday. I look forward to just going home at the end of the summer. Hopefully by then- I, I drastically look different. I, I've lost a significant amount of weight. Um, I went to the beard barber, um, over the weekend, and he-- and I was, uh, mentioning to him my weight loss plan. He's like, "Dude, you l- it looks like you've been losing weight." He, he was like, "I didn't wanna say anything 'cause you never know with people.
I, I-- you never know if somebody could be going through something, an eating disorder, um, cancer maybe."
Uh, it's c- it, it, it's true, you know? It's, uh, you gotta be extra careful. But I was like, "No, please, by all means, like, if you see me looking skinnier or even fatter, please let me know." I like how I went from Papa Roach to my weight loss.
Here's Atreyu, all for you on K-Bear 101. [upbeat music] Today's What the Headline is one of those stories where i- the headline sounds completely made up, but it isn't, and that's why we're talking about it for the most ridiculous news story of the entire day. It involves a Florida man. Authorities in Florida say a man is accused of killing his girlfriend. Investigators say that while allegedly trying to dispose of her body,
he suffered a fatal heart attack himself.
The investigation is ongoing. That's one of those headlines where you read it twice because your brain can't quite process it. Karma gets you.
Sometimes, uh, real life pr- produces headlines that no fiction writer would ever come up with. You ever seen that movie, is it Gerald's Game? We tried watching the beginning part of it,
and what was funny is that the roommate walked in as we were watching that movie during the worst part of it when the... You know, the, the, there's that spicy scene in the beginning that sets off the whole movie. The guy takes a particular prescription,
then has a heart attack right there in the beginning part of the movie, so I'm not really spoiling anything. They're in the, they're, they're, they're in the middle of the spicy scene. The guy passes away on top of the be- the person in the bed. So she's, she's also
handcuffed
to the, the headboard, and she needs to find her way out of there. That's not the whole movie. I mean, that's just the, the beginning part of it. It's not like the whole movie is just her trying [laughs] to escape. I mean, that could be, like, a dumb A24 film. I just imagine this poor lady gets killed.
Ex-boyfriend.
Karma gets him. Fatal heart attack. They find these two bodies.
Somehow they deduced the, they deduced the fact that he died of a heart attack right after she died. Unreal. That is today's What the Headline right here on K-Bear 101. We're getting closer and closer to the day when your car won't even have a brake pedal. Federal regulators have proposed new rules that would fully-- let fully driverless vehicles be built without those brake pedals or, or steering wheels
as long as they're designed to never have a human driver. The cars would still have to meet the same braking performance and safety standards. They just wouldn't need these, the controls because, in theory, the computer does all the driving.
I'll be honest, I'm not there yet. I, I still say thank you when somebody lets me merge. You expect me to trust a car that doesn't even
give me the option to slam on the brakes? No chance. You know what's gonna happen the first time I ride in one? Every time it comes up to a spotlight, my foot is going to instinctively stomp the floor looking for a brake pedal that doesn't exist. Are they expecting people to be in the driver's seat of these things? 'Cause I know in Waymos you just get in the back, right? I have never sat in a Waymo before. My friends all have. My friend Matt, he'll... I, I don't know if this is something you can do. Maybe I shouldn't say it. May- no, actually, you know what? Maybe I'll a- I'll ask Lieutenant Crane the next time he's in here. I don't think he's coming in this Friday, 'cause we're gonna be sort of preparing for the Idaho Falls Community Hospital River Fest presented by ICCU and Riverbend Media Group. But can you legitimately be wasted and be in the backseat of a Waymo car and be okay? Because you still have... I mean, i- if, if he's carrying around, if my friend Matt is carrying around a, a White Claw Surge in his possession, isn't that considered open container?
And you still have that in the vehicle even though you're not the one driving?
I'll have to ask. Maybe I'll just snitch on my friend Matt. I mean, I already did sort of live on the air right here on Peaches Pit Party. A grave mistake I just made. See what I did there? Here's Ice Nine Kills. You know, I think Star, the graphic design lady from down the hall, I think she, uh, personally has a vendetta against me.
'Cause I talked about it yesterday on the show about how she canceled the Peaches Pit Party billboard, which should exist. #JusticeForPeaches.
I shouldn't start my own hashtag movement. She canceled the billboard, and then she sends out the schedule for the Idaho Falls Community Hospital River Fest presented by ICCU and Riverbend Media Group,
and
I'm the last person on the list. I've been here close to six years. Five and a half years.
And I'm the last person listed on this list. Everyone else who
has been here as long as I have is up near the top. They get to take the early shift this Fourth of July. They get to be there from, like, 11 to 3, and then they can dip. I'm there 3:30 to 8:30, and I'm at the very bottom of the list. Also, my first name is not even used. Everyone else's first name is on there, except mine. It has, like, Justin, Maddie, Melissa, and then Peaches right there at the bottom. She might as well have put it in, like, all lowercase.
I will be at the Stone's Kia Kid Zone this Fourth of July, Saturday afternoon. I'll be there with my Tupperware as my dinner, you know, my chicken and rice and broccoli, 'cause I, I take no days off when it comes to dieting. Holidays can wait. All right, I know there's gonna be tons of food vendors, tons of temptations this Fourth of July. Am I gonna, am I gonna f- fail myself? Absolutely not.
Am I gonna put on those wristbands too tight on some of those kids? Absolutely. I did, I had a problem with that last year. You gotta, uh, put the wristbands on the kids, and most of the kids were afraid to approach me, 'cause I'm sure from their height, I'm even taller in person. So it's probably terrifying to hear, like, "Hey, come up here, kid. You want your wristband? Get in the kid zone."
And then I have to, you know, use, use my hand to wrap the wristband around their wrist and, and there were a few times, [laughs] there were a few times last year where the kids ran immediately back to their mom going, "The, the big man put the wristband on too tight," and then they ran to Star. [laughs] Maybe that's the reason why she put me at the bottom of the list and used my last name. She's like, "Yeah, okay, I guess Peaches has to work too. He'll be scaring kids again this year."
