[upbeat music] Ah, yes, the Monday after the Fourth of July weekend. Oh, boy. It's July 6th, 2026. I hope you're doing well. I hope you had a fantastic Fourth of July. Hopefully, you, uh, came to Snake River Landing. It was, uh, quite the show. M- the, the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration for one final time, at least for the foreseeable future, putting on that, uh, massive, uh, celebration at, uh, Snake River Landing, man. It was, uh, it was, it was nonstop at the Stone's Kia Kid Zone. Me and Jeff, AKA FJ, we were on the left side. Jeff was, uh, manning the wristbands. I was the one handling the money. I had my safari hat on to protect my neck, more specifically. My neck and my ears. Luckily, we were in the shade. I didn't need to put sunscreen on. I am a little bit red because I was swimming in the sun, of course, yesterday.

Other than that, I'm, I'm good. I'm not burnt at all, man. I got lucky. I got very lucky also, uh, leaving Snake River Landing because I was off at 8:30. I'm like, "You know what? I think I'm stuck here. I really think I'm stuck here." So I went to the guy, uh, uh, manning the parking lot where I was at and said, "Hey, is this still open for me to leave? I'm not clo- I'm not shut in?" He's like, "Yeah, dude, just go for it." So I got in my car, drove away, drove to my friend, uh, Brian's place up on the hill in Ammon. Watched the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration from up there. Completely avoided all of the traffic. It was nice. It was nice just, just to be able to see that, that fireworks show. So many other shows going on. Even Brian's neighbors were just lighting off fireworks, which, I mean,

uh, uh, it, it is completely dry out there, so I'm hoping no other fires, uh, start, especially with how my street was. I got back home [laughs] after the whole thing, after the whole celebration. There were still people lighting up fireworks till, like, 1:00 in the morning. Same, uh, for last night. Not necessarily 1:00 last night, more so like 11:00 or 12:00 last night. I had to turn on my, uh, CPAP, turn on my fan. Uh, I think I turned on some other white noise as well to be, to be able to drown out the explosions outside. It was like sleeping in a war zone. Anyway, if you wanna get a hold of me, you can over at 208-535-1015. It's, uh, it's nice to be able to not have to worry about, uh, some big thing going on anymore. It's nice to be able to just do these shows. You know, do the K-Bear 101 show, the Z103 afternoon show. Oh, man. Yeah, that's right. So I'll be back in, uh, just a few with some more random crap to talk about here on K-Bear 101. It's Peaches Pit Party. [upbeat music] I got reminded yesterday on Facebook that a year ago yesterday, my friends Matt and Christian came up to Idaho. We explored every nook and cranny there is. I mean, we were all over the place. My friend Matt is nonstop. He can't just sit. He has to go, go, go, go, go. He has to have some sort of hike planned. He wants to pack everything to a short n- a sh- a few short days a- and it's kind of, uh, uh, it's really exhausting, to be quite honest with you. But you also have fun at the same time. Like, you're doing stuff you wouldn't normally do, so I kind of appreciate that about him. But, uh, when my friends Matt and Christian were out here, uh, Matt was all like, "Oh, I just b- I rented us kayaks. We're gonna kayak to Box Canyon, drive all the way out to Buhl." And I remember kayaking all the way to Box Canyon. I was tired. I go out to the middle of the water. Sure enough, my kayak is filling up with water, and it topples over, knocks me into the water myself. I'm freaking out because all my stuff is now at the bottom of the water. I think my phone and all of that. They ended up... My phone, my wallet, my keys. I think... What happened to my phone then? Was that just in my pocket? I think. I'm not exactly sure. It, it ended, it ended up fine. I had to swim to some guy's motorboat, and then he had to, like, basically tow the kayak back to the rental spot 'cause my kayak just kept filling up with water. I got reminded of that. You know, that once in a lifetime memory. I don't think I'll go kayaking ever again. I think if Matt ever suggests that the next time he comes out here, I'll be like, "You guys have fun. I'll stick to a,

stick to a jet ski or something else. I don't know. Maybe I'll stick to land. How about that?" [upbeat music] Peaches Pit Party right here on K-Bear 101. So have you ever been invited somewhere,

and you realize, oh, they just invited me because of this kind of thing? Like, whenever Victor invites me over, all of a sudden he needs help, uh, moving something that he couldn't lift himself. "Oh, Peaches, since you're here, could you help me move this dresser from my attic to my, to my garage?

Just this dresser here. It weighs about 500 pounds.

You got, you gotta lift up that side, and we'll, we'll move it very slowly.

It's gonna be hard work, but it'll help me out a lot."

My friend's, uh, my friend and his fiancée have invited me out because it's his fiancée's 21st birthday, and they want to celebrate accordingly, so they have this dinner planned tonight, and then they wanna go bar hopping. And I'm like, "Okay, I know where this is going. You know I'm the guy that doesn't drink at all, has never drank in my entire life,

and you're expecting me to drive you guys around in my car, where you can just get potentially wasted,

and then I have to deal with the repercussions of it, potentially, if they decide to, you know, upchuck in my backseat or whatever."

If they do, they're paying for the cleaning. I don't care. I'm gonna give them that bill, that Venmo request saying, "Hey, you drug me out at a time where I'm trying to not be seen," kind of thing, as we talked about on the [laughs] Noon Hour of Madness and Mayhem. I'm just trying to, uh,

go home,

get my groceries delivered to my place,

uh, go to the gym as well, come to work, obviously. But other than that, I'm really not going anywhere. That's all, that's all I've been doing. Just work, gym, workout. Or work, workout...

Sleep. Essentially it, but I wonder where they're going to drag me tonight.

I wonder what-- Well, I think, I think I know the restaurant we're going to for dinner. But other than that, after that, I'm hoping they don't have much planned because I don't want to stay out too late. I do have work tomorrow. I do-- I have to be up early, not as early as Victor, but it's early enough. I don't want to be, uh... I don't want to have to ma-make a PTO request just because, you know, I go to bed at, like, two in the morning because they wanted to stay out on a Monday night.

Enough of my complaining. I'm sorry. Deftones on K-Bear one-oh-one. If you haven't noticed yet or if you haven't used the K-Bear one-oh-one app as of late, uh, definitely install the latest update for it because it's, uh, it, it, it looks a lot different compared to before. I mean, the player's different. It's giving, like,

descriptions of the songs, I think, at the bottom. It-- At the time that I opened it up, it was-- there was a Breaking Benjamin song playing, and there was a whole thing about how, like, it debuted on a certain station in Breaking Benjamin's hometown or something like that.

According to this, there's better Apple CarPlay connectivity with it, Android Auto as well. There's a new-- I, I-- Obviously, there's a new modern design to it. It looks different. Make sure to download the latest update for the K-Bear one-oh-one app on your phone. If you don't have the app, download it today. After pickleball teams picked up a bunch of celeb investors in recent years, it's not surprising to see another sport embrace that, uh, that playbook to increase their reach. The Premier Lacrosse League just landed a new one hundred million dollar investment from a group that includes actor Glen Powell, actor and Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob Mack, and Brooklyn Nets co-owner Joe Tsai. And the league also has its eyes on, on as much TV exposure as possible, as ESPN bought an additional stake in the business after investing last year when it secured a, uh, deal for broadcast rights. All of this action comes two years before lacrosse makes its debut at the twenty twenty-eight Los Angeles Olympics. We told you a few weeks ago about how former NBA All-Star Ben Simmons had turned to fishing and won the Blue Marlin Open at Walker's Cay in the Bahamas with his team. Now it looks like he's looking to return to the hardwood. The thirty-year-old Simmons, who hasn't played an NBA game since April of last year, told Men's Health, "I plan on getting as strong as I can physically, getting my butt on the court, and then the team realizing that my abilities will be needed. I don't have a plan on where." He does suggest that maybe I'll go back to Philly, which seems pretty unlikely after hi-his, uh, playoff debacles with the 76ers and his holdout until he got traded, uh, out of town. Fans of Kent State's football team are disappointed that they won't be able to root for Kent Staten. Kenston Kent Staten, a quarterback at Maple Heights High School outside of Cleveland, Ohio, who's graduating in twenty twenty-seven, was recruited by Kent State and a dozen other schools. But Staten didn't take his, uh, namesake's offer, deciding to, to attend Toledo instead. Kent Staten going to Kent State. Kenston Kent Staten going to Kent State. That would've been awesome. That does it for your Shot Clock Sports Update right here on K-Bear one-oh-one. So I talked about it not that long ago here on the show on Peach's Pit Party on K-Bear one-oh-one that my friend and his fiancée are planning on going out tonight, and they want me to be the DD because it's his fiancée's twenty-first birthday. They wanna party it up a bit, right? So they told me the restaurant we're going to after work this, uh, this evening,

and I've been st- I've been trying to stay consistent with this diet. I've, I've allowed myself, I think, too many cheat meals in the past couple of days. On the Fourth of July, on Saturday, I, I did bring a pre-planned meal that was, like, turkey and rice and snap peas, whatever. It was so busy at the Stone's Kia Kid Zone that I couldn't just turn around and eat that food. It was go, go, go, and before I knew it, it was eight thirty, time for me to clock out and be done for the night. And so I didn't wanna go to my car and just sit there by myself and eat that, [chuckles] that pre-planned meal just in my car. So what I ended up doing is I drove to my friend Brian's place. I was gonna bring that to his backyard. I was like, "Maybe there's something back there I could have instead of this very sad, potentially cold meal prep that I had."

So sure enough, I go to the backyard. He has some burgers and hot dogs. That's all he has, so I'm like, "You know what? I'll allow myself. It is the Fourth of July. I'll allow myself to have one hamburger, one hot dog, and some chips and salsa." And that felt like a stomach bomb. It, it truly did. It tasted great, but

it, it felt like such a stomach bomb. I was like, "Okay, I gotta make up for this. I gotta go extra hard on Sunday," which I did wake up and go to the gym and get my hour, hour session on the treadmill. You know, I had to.

And then I had my Taco Bell cheat meal the next day. So it's been rather rough. [laughs] But other than that, other than those two meals, I, I've tried to stay consistent with it. But I have become that guy that is now looking at the, uh, restaurant menu ahead of time to try to scope out the healthiest option that they might have, and I think I found it. It's just chicken and veggies.

Says, "An eight-ounce chicken breast served atop a lake of creamy gravy with skin on mashed potatoes with sautéed vegetables. For a healthier option, opt for no gravy and steamed vegetables." I'm gonna be that guy. Give me the steamed veggies and no gravy at all. I don't want a single drop on my plate. I need to get to this certain weight by the time Papa Roach set it off at Autumn Kings are coming to Pocatello July twenty-third at the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheater. Here's The Who featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. Wolf Totem on K-Bear one-oh-one. Which jobs are most influenced by appearance even if no one likes to admit it? I would say radio, but there are a lot of, uh, big, fat, bald dudes in radio, and I myself am one of them.

The poster explains, "I'm not talking about modeling or acting where appearance is obviously part of the job. I mean careers where people often claim looks don't matter,

but being conventionally attractive clearly seems to give you an advantage." A great, uh, example of this

is, uh, hostesses at restaurants. There's a reason it's almost always an attractive young woman.

Jobs where you get tips. Pretty people get more tips. Also, commission jobs, sales, particularly pharmaceutical sales. I see that here for which jobs are most influenced by appearance even if no one likes to admit it. Working in corporate, you get a lot more attention and respect as a six-foot-tall, relatively fit guy than you do if you are shorter or heavier. Maybe that's the reason why Victor Wolf gets no respect around here. [laughs] Only, only playing. Only... I did like this answer. "Honestly, all careers when faced with two equally qualified candidates, the most- the more conventionally attractive one will get the job." Well, they saw what I looked like prior to me getting the job here. They interviewed me via Zoom, so they probably just said, "Hey, you know what? Out of all the ugly people that applied for middays on KBEAR, this guy somehow is the best-looking one." The days of working one job for forty years and retiring with that gold watch are becoming pretty rare. More people are building what's called a portfolio career. Instead of relying on one job, they're mixing different skills and income streams. Maybe they'll work full-time, freelance on the side, teach a class, or run a small business. The idea is to build a career that's more flexible and lets you use more of your talents. Whether you're looking for a side hustle or your next full-time opportunity, it's always good to know what's out there, and that's where hireeastidaho.com comes in. It's Peaches Pit Party now with Poppy. Time will tell on KBEAR 101. Idaho's only rock station, KBEAR 101. Somebody posted in r/unpopularopinion. Uh, the poster believes that binge-watching a show completely ruins the experience. They write, "I'm so sick of streaming platforms dropping entire seasons. When you binge-watch a ten-episode show in just two days, it just becomes mental fast food. You don't actually digest it. You don't think about the plot twists. You don't rewatch scenes, and you don't talk about it with anyone because everyone is at a different episode. By next month you've already forgotten half the character names," which I believe is partially true. I mean, I'd, I'd much rather have them drop the full season than do what they're doing with some shows like Reacher, for example, and they just,

uh, they upload one episode, then you have- you wait a week, and then you wait for the next episode like good old-fashioned traditional television, how it used to be at least.

I, I'd much rather just have the full season available, watch at my own pace. That's just me. But at the same time, I do understand that completely because it, it feels like a race with all of my friends. Some of my friends have no lives. They don't work Monday through Friday, eight to five. They also don't do stuff outside, like they don't work out or walk around. They just... Sometimes, you know, they'll, they'll play on their PC for most of the day. It's kinda weird when you, when you become an adult that some people work that Monday through Friday, eight to five grind. Some other ones will work nights. Other ones will just work three days out of the week, and then you're like, "Dude, how do you have..." Like, they still, they, they still live with their parents at like twenty-seven, but they're working three days a week, and they spend all their money on like Funko Pops. [laughs] There's that. Those people are usually the ones that ruin the shows for you. They'll, they'll, they'll spoil it somehow. They'll ask like what episode you're on, and they'll go like, "Well, I'm on episode ten where this guy dies," and then you just start screaming at them because you're still on like episode two. I, I really hate spoilers. I really do. Do not spoil any show or movie for anybody. I had to stop listening to a podcast today because they started talking about Obsession, and I've been needing to watch that movie. I also need to watch the latest, uh, Donkey Butt film with Johnny Knoxville. I can't say the official name of it, but you know what movie I'm talking about. Peaches Pit Party right here on KBEAR 101. You ever have that one embarrassing moment at work? Maybe you've had multiple. There was a time last week... I should have talked about this on the noon hour of Madness Mayhem with Victor today or maybe even late last week. It was just so funny. You know, I've been talking about how I've been having hard-boiled eggs here in the studio

as a great source of, uh, protein. You know, they're calorie-dense. They're filling snacks. Like, I have like three hard-boiled eggs, or I used to have three hard-boiled eggs here in the studio. That was until, well... Oh, the music bed stopped again.

That was until late last week, one person in here, in the office, I'm not gonna name their name, pulled me into their office, had me shut the door behind me, and they went, "Hey." Because this person usually cleans the, uh, studios. This person went, "Hey, um,

there were eggshells

all over the floor,

all over the desks in both the Z103 and KBEAR studios."

And I just immediately was like, "Oh, I am so sorry." And I've done an absolute

fantastic job, I thought-

Of throwing those, uh, eggshells away or breaking them open over the trash can. I guess those bits and pieces that were still latched onto the egg or maybe even my hands

all of a sudden just made their way either onto the floor or on the desk. So that person asked me to peel them ahead of time, which

I don't think is gonna happen because

I, I wake up at like 7:15 in the morning. I start work at 8:00. The last thing I wanna do is just immediately wake up, run to the kitchen, pack my lunch like I'm getting ready for school. Get a little sandwich bag of three hard-boiled eggs, maybe pour some salt on them for some added flavor,

put them in a nice little baggie. Leave myself a little cute little note too that says, "I hope you have a beautiful day, Brendan, heart, me." Or wh- wh- whatever. Peaches Pit Party right here on KBEAR 101. If you, uh, headed to the lake, maybe the river, hung out at the pool this past weekend. Maybe you plan to do so, uh, a little while later from now. I mean, who knows? If you're headed to the lake, the river, or even just hanging out at the pool this summer as a whole, take water safety seriously, all right? Every year we hear stories that started with, "We only looked away for a second." This month's Riverbend Awareness Project sits down with, uh, local responders to talk about drowning prevention, why life jackets save lives, what to do if someone gets in trouble, and a few simple things you can do before you even leave the house that could save a life. It's really-- It's a really important conversation, especially if you've got kids. You can listen right now at riverbendmediagroup.com, just click Podcasts. I mean, there was that whole story about, is it Shad Gaspard, the former wrestler? He was in that tag team Crime Time. He passed away because he drowned saving his kid, who was already drowning. So it's very important to take water safety very seriously. Search for the Riverbend Awareness Project wherever you get your podcasts. I don't know about you, but every time I walk into a, a hotel room, my checklist is pretty simple. Bed, good to go. TV, looks great. Air conditioning, awesome. But when there's certain unwanted creatures that pop up, uh, I'm gonna wake... I'm gonna leave right then and there. All right? This commercial airline pilot is suing a hotel after he says he woke up in the middle of the night to bats just flying around his room. He says one of them bit his foot, and because of the risk of rabies, he ended up needing a full course of treatment that reportedly cost more than $100,000. Now, I don't know if that's true or not, but knowing how healthcare works here in America,

maybe he, maybe he's right. He's now suing over the incident. I don't care if it's a five-star hotel. I mean, I was thinking, I'm like, well, how ghetto of a hotel was this guy staying at? The second I see a bat flying around my room, I'm not asking for another room, I'm asking for another hotel. I'll probably just sleep in my car. You call the front desk,

tell them there's a bat in your room. They're like, "Okay, sure, buddy." [laughs] You just try to take a video of the bat in your room as evidence.

I mean, there was that time where a moth flew into my bedroom. The first time ever a bug has ever showed up in my room. Like, a, a, a... I shouldn't say a bug. My mistake. No, there's been plenty of bugs, as gross as that sounds. I mean, there's been spiders. Spiders pop up in everybody's place. There's been some ants here and there that I've gotten rid of, but this giant moth just came flying in my, into my room, landed on the light. I was flicking my towel at it like a whip, 'cause I had just gotten out of the shower at the time. I've talked about that story on the air. I was butt-naked just trying to whip this moth with a towel, [laughs] trying to get rid of it, and then it just disappeared, then showed up the next night. I almost, uh, checked into my friend's apartment. How about that? Here's Motionless in White featuring Corey Taylor, Playing God, on KBEAR 101. Earlier on Victor's morning show, we were talking about, uh, videos that have now since popped up thanks to Fourth of July mayhem. W- uh, and we were kind of going over some of which were fake, some of them were... Uh, I think one of them was a scene from a comedy movie that had just gotten uploaded onto Instagram and TikTok, and all of that has since gone viral. People thinking it's a real... I, I thought it was a real thing, that where some dude just aimed, uh, some type of giant firework at a, uh, patio of a restaurant. Well, this one is legitimate. At least I know, at, at least I think it's legitimate for now, unless all of a sudden someone says, "Hey, that video is entirely AI." [laughs] Uh, this, this skydiver at the Folsom Pro Rodeo,

uh, the plan was simple: he would parachute into the, into the arena carrying a giant American flag. Well, the flag snagged a tree on the way down. The poor guy ended up crashing into a tent right next to the crowd.

The best part is that he wasn't seriously hurt. He came back the very next night and nailed the landing. I have to give him credit, because if I ever crash into a tent in front of thousands of people... I mean, if I ever do a stage announcement and my voice cracks, I'm hiding from everybody, let alone skydiving, missing my landing mark, and crashing into a tent. I mean, this guy crashed hard. You gotta find the video online. It's Folsom Pro Rodeo, uh, skydiver. I'm sure it'll be the first video to pop up. It's Peaches Pit Party right here on KBEAR 101. You know you've officially made it when you're so rich that your house has weather, and by that I mean apparently one of the la- latest luxury home trends is something called a snow room.

It's exactly what it sounds like: a room inside your house where it actually snows. The walls are covered in ice, the temperature is below freezing, and people step into it after using a sauna or hot tub because they say it's part of a wellness routine.

I'm over here with no AC, nothing. Whatever's outside is inside. If it's hot outside, my place is hot. If I want to stay cool, I'll just go in the shower, turn my water on cold, and stand there for a little while. Maybe turn a fan on. Maybe come to work and turn the AC on here because I don't pay for the, uh, electric bill here.

These people are paying to make winter happen indoors.

You give somebody that house tour. Here's the kitchen, here's the living room, and here's what is gonna happen to the area outside when it's January. I mean, [laughs] like... Oh, a snow room. I've always wanted one of those. Like... Oh, man, these rich people are beating the heat by going to their snow rooms.

Utterly absurd. Here we go with today's What the Headline, the most ridiculous news story of the entire day. There's a celebrity causing traffic jams. Not, not Travis and Taylor. No, a literal seal. Neil the seal. A 2,200-pound elephant seal in Tasmania has become so famous that people actually look forward to his yearly visits. The problem is Neil doesn't exactly understand personal space. Officials say he's knocked over fences, flattened traffic posts, uh, even wandered into intersections, bringing traffic to a stop. They're asking people to keep their distance because as adorable as he is, he's still a wild animal that weighs a ton. A literal ton.

I love that they have to issue traffic alerts because of Neil.

Neil the seal causing mayhem in Tasmania, which I didn't realize was an actual place until years ago.

I thought it was just called the Tasmanian Devil because it sounded cool. So there's that. That is today's What the Headline right here on Cave Air 101. I think dating has officially become too complicated. Apparently, some Gen Z singles are now going on practice dates, not with people they actually want to date, with people they don't.

The, the idea is to build confidence, get better at flirting, and take the pressure off before going out with someone they're actually interested in. What happened to just being awkward? That's how the rest of us learned. Imagine finding out, like, a few dates later.

Our first date, that was practice. I'm sorry. I n- I, I, I'm now with some other person

that, you know... Oh, why, why did the music bed stop? Come on. What is this system doing?

I was going with, I was going with a joke here.

Could you imagine, though, that, like, you go on a few dates with this one person and then come to find out that they just used you for practice [laughs] to, to get ready for the real thing? [laughs] They show you pictures

of what, of who they're actually seeing. I've dealt with similar people in the past. There was that one girl, I've talked about her on the air. Her name was Shannon, and she showed me her list of the top 25 d- guys she was talking to, and she was ranking them. I was number seven. And just like what I said before, at least I made the top 10.

I, I, I gave up on her after that. I'm like, "You have fun. Go, go find, uh, go see if number one still wants you. If he doesn't, then number two maybe. At least you have, uh, 23 other backups, I guess." [upbeat music] Thanks for listening to Peaches Pit Party, the podcast. If you enjoyed the show, please share, subscribe, and rate the podcast.
