[upbeat music] Kicking off the afternoon show with a new one from 156 Silence, "What's Happening." It is Peaches. Monday, July 27th, 2026. I hope you are, uh, well rested, unlike me.
The reason why I couldn't sleep last night is because it was too dang hot. Or, I mean, still is too dang hot.
I had to go to my freezer. Well, here's the thing.
I went to my kitchen after trying to lay in bed falling-- trying to fall asleep. I had my-- I have my fan on. The fan is just blowing hot air. I need to clean out that fan, get all the dust out of there.
I decided to go to the kitchen. I stuck my head in the freezer
just to kind of... I love how the music stopped right after I said that too, by the way. I love how great our equipment is here.
I stuck my head in the freezer, and then I saw my two ice packs, and I said, "You know what? I'll fall asleep with these on me." And no joke, I fell asleep with one behind my neck and one just laying there on my head. Finally fell asleep around 1:00 AM. Just way too hot.
This weather sucks. This is probably the worst summer since 2021. The first summer that I was out here,
I almost just came to this studio and turned on the AC, brought my beanbag with me, and just fell asleep in here. Could you imagine? Victor comes in early this morning, sees me with my CPAP. He's like, "What on earth is that sound?" He turns on the lights, just sees me laying there. If you wanna get ahold of me, you can over at 208-535-1015. It's Peaches Pip Party. Hopefully, uh, I'll find some stuff to talk about here this afternoon on KBEAR 101. [screen whooshes] I love how there's really no defense for opposing the, the, uh, the push for permanent daylight saving time. Again, it's daylight saving time. If anybody out there says daylight savings, especially those, uh, tho-those politicians that are trying to go against this push for permanent daylight saving time.
If those people say daylight savings, they automatically, their vote becomes null and void. Get 'em out of there if they're that dumb to say daylight savings time. [laughs] There's, there, there, there's, there's one particular, uh, guy that keeps getting mentioned, Tom Cotton of Arkansas. That name already sounds like a villain from, like, a Happy Gilmore movie.
Happy Gilmore versus Tom Cotton and Shooter McGavin. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, he's among the most vocal op-- uh, the most vocal opponents of moving towards year-round daylight saving time and has vowed to block any proponent's efforts to quickly approve the bill on the floor through a process known as unanimous consent, which requires all 100 senators to agree on an expedited vote. Now, again, that's just villain behavior. "I'll do anything to stop this from happening." And his only defense is
it's because he doesn't want kids going to school in the dark. That's it. Boo-hoo!
You know?
It's like, who cares, really? I went to school in the dark. [laughs] Most people do- go to, go to places in the dark, especially if they, if they have to wake up early, you know? It's like, what if the-- what if those kids, they get into jobs where they w- have to wake up early, kinda like a, uh, morning show, uh, radio host, where you have to get up at the extreme hours in the night to get to work? I know some people in radio that have to get up at 1:30 in the morning. They go to bed, like, at 5:00 PM, wake up at 1:30. Those people have to go to work in the dark.
That's, like, their only defense. Uh, it, it says right here, "Opponents of the change contend the shift would, i-- wouldn't just endanger school kids, but also workers,
like construction crews, farmers, factory hands who would have to report to their jobs in the dark." Uh, in the wintertime,
I have to go to, to work in the dark, and I have to leave in the dark. And 99% of my day is in the dark because we hardly turn the lights on in here. I have these LED lights that I'm literally looking at as I'm speaking here to you,
and those are the only lights that are on. These LED, uh... these, these lights that are like those little s- those little strips,
that's what the light i- that's, that's the only light source in this studio. Victor also has the, the Govee pole lights in the KBEAR studio. I'm in the Z103 studio.
There's the KBEAR studio that has the, the Govee pole lights. The hallway lights are never turned on around here. Stop making up excuses for not wanting to go against, or stop, stop making up excuses overall and just go with it. You know, if, if, if the majority rules and they wanna push for permanent daylight saving time, you know, let, let's go for it. Come on. Stop with the time change. Here's Linkin Park, "The Emptiness Machine" on KBEAR 101. [screen whooshes] Five Finger Death Punch, "Eye of the Storm" on KBEAR 101. I looked it up on our concert calendar. They're gonna be in Salt Lake City, or should I say West Valley City, if I wanna be technically correct, at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre September 22nd. I'm hoping the weather isn't bad then. I'm hoping it's not extremely hot like it is now. I don't know how people survived that, uh, that Evanescence show with Spiritbox and Nova Twins this past Saturday.
I know Maddie from down the hall, uh, took her mom to that show. I'll have to ask her how it was 'cause I think, I think she did that thing that I truly don't like is that she showed up only for the headliner.
You gotta go for the full concert. You gotta. You gotta experience that, the whole thing. Because even if you see a band that you're like, "Wow, they suck," at least you know for next time just to not go to that show. [laughs] I, what, what was it on my, uh, Snapchat memories? It popped up
Like it was on this day two years ago that I, I posted
about, uh, the band Gorilla Toss that opened up for Primus, and boy, were they awful.
I, I hate to say that, but man,
it was bad. I think the caption said, "Nachos during one of the, I'll say, crappiest bands I have ever seen."
Primus and Coheed and Cambria, though, they were awesome for sure. But yeah, Five Finger Death Punch, they're gonna be in Salt Lake, or should I say West Valley City. Cody Jinks, Eva Under Fire are their openers, September 22nd. You can find that show and many other shows on our concert calendar at riverbendmediagroup.com/calendar, or you can use the shortcut to it via the KBEAR Alt or Cannonball 101 apps. It's Peaches Pit Party now with Nickelback, their latest single, Rattle the Cage, on KBEAR 101. I love how the radio prep even freaks out about LeBron. They have this whole section dedicated to LeBum- I mean, LeBron James. LeBron mania. When LeBron joined the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, signing a two-year, $8 million deal, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took time out of his busy day to declare July 24th, 2026 to be LeBron James Day. In a social media post, Shapiro wrote, "LEBRON IS COMING TO PHILLY," in all capital letters. "By the power vested in me as the Governor of the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a diehard Sixers fan, I hereby proclaim today i- to be LeBron James Day." When Le- w- With LeBron now on a team, the NBA can once again move forward. Hours after LeBron announced he would play for the Philadelphia 76ers this season, his first 76ers card was available for purchase. Topps is selling the first limited edition card with LeBron in a 76ers, uh, jersey, pricing the card at $11.99 online. One of the cards Topps prints this time around will feature a LeBron James autograph. While the regular cards without the autograph could go up in value for collectors, the fans who get the autographed card is certainly going to, uh... The fan who gets the autographed card is certainly going to make a boatload of money. Now that 41-year-old ancient LeBron James is a Sixer, let's see if Philadelphia trades for LeBron's oldest son, uh, Bronny. Last year, LeBron made $53 million with the Lakers. They overpaid him for sure. This year, he'll, he'll get about 8 million in salary. Considering this bargain deal, it, it kinda makes sense that the 76ers might owe him a little something something. Maybe do him a solid, get Bronny away from Los Angeles so Bronny can play with his pop. Aw, isn't that adorable? Yeah, get that bum player off the Lakers, too. That does it for your Shot Clock Sports Update right here on KBEAR 101. That Papa Roach Set It Off and Autumn King show, man, was that, was that show awesome. It was awesome. Great to see all three bands live once more. They sounded amazing, too. The Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheater has amazing sound. And I'm excited for the next concert, September 23rd, Theory of a Deadman and Sevendust live at the Mountain America Center. And guess what? We're giving away tickets for that all this week. Listen for back-to-back tracks from either band and be caller 20 when you do at 208-535-1015. That's literally it. Just gotta listen for back-to-back songs from either band. Win tickets to that show right here on KBEAR 101. Now let's play some Loathe, Fangs. Deftones on KBEAR 101. It's Peaches Pit Party. I was getting a good laugh out of this thread. What's the least attractive hobby? And I guess people are, uh,
are, are pointing out that like, hey, not many people know what hobbies exactly are, because someone had to write, "Meth is not a hobby." [laughs]
Is meth a hobby? Let's Google search that.
I bet Jay's gonna love seeing that, uh,
that, uh, notification on his computer. Peaches just looked up, "Is meth a hobby?"
All I'm getting are a bunch of, uh...
Wait, what on earth is this? Meth Myths: Arkansas Department of Human Services.
How Addictive is Meth? from Ashley Addiction Treatment. And then I see from the Department of Justice, Methamphetamine Fast Facts.
All right, let's move on from that. I didn't get a clear answer from them either.
I did like how Reddit mod popped up for what's the least attractive hobby. You hear that, moderator for the Seether subreddit? You piece of trash.
I still can't believe that guy or girl is taking their job so seriously as a Reddit mod for a band that peaked in like two thousand and five.
I, I just can't believe that.
Uh, th-this person-- Long story short,
I asked the Seether subreddit,
"What are some questions I should ask Dale Stewart of Seether?" 'Cause I was interviewing him. They, they asked me all these questions that say like, "When are you guys gonna release this?" Like all these questions of like, you know, "When are you guys gonna do this, uh, this thing? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah." And it was all these horrible questions, so I didn't ask any single one of their questions. So then I shared the interview still in that subreddit thinking they would still go, "Oh, you know what? That's cool." They're the only subreddit to be that,
that violent towards, uh, towards me. I've shared my interviews in a bunch of different subreddits going, "Hey, I just interviewed so-and-so from this band. You should watch it."
And usually the, the comments are like, "Hey, that's awesome. Thank you so much for sharing this. Appreciate you getting the chance to sit down with you-know-who or whoever."
Not the Reddit m-- not the sub-- not the, uh, Seether subreddit. Boy, do those people suck. And then
that moderator heard me talk about him on a previous Peaches Pit Party podcast, and then had the audacity to like send me the, one of the worst messages I have ever been sent ever. Like,
j-just the, the amount of... Not the amount of cuss words, but like what that guy told me to do, which I'm not gonna repeat any single part of it,
before he permanently banned me
from the, from the Seether subreddit, which is just one of the saddest things ever. I'm still talking about this even like a year or so later [laughs] 'cause it's just so, it's just so funny. What a loser. What a loser. I proudly got rid of that radio DJ out of the subreddit. I'm doing my job. This is not a hobby. This is a job to me. Again, I like how we talked, we started talking about what's the least attractive hobby, and it turned into me just completely making fun of that Seether moderator again. I, I, I so badly wanna interview the guys in Seether again just to let them know about this story, and that they should be solely responsible for taking down the Seether subreddit. Could you imagine that comeback?
All of a sudden, the band goes into the subreddit and says, "Hey, this place sucks. Shut it down." And I'm the reason why. Maybe I should reach out to the record rep, because we got a pretty good friendship with him.
Maybe I'll have to plan that out. Get that go- get that going. Idaho's only rock station, K-Bear one-oh-one. Uh, I was reading something here about people admitting to flirting with AI bots, uh, trying to develop a relationship, a working relationship. Oh, more than just a working relationship with AI. Excuse me. It looks like some Americans are developing more than just a working relationship with AI, that some people are trying to find love with AI, like the movie Her with Joaquin Phoenix. I've referenced that movie a whole bunch, 'cause now we're living in it with these people that are in full-on relationships with chatbots. I mean, you've seen the, the, the posts on My Boyfriend is an AI subreddit, or My Boyfriend is AI subreddit. That's what it's called. Yeah, My Boyfriend is AI subreddit.
I mean, could you imagine you're on a date with somebody, an actual human,
and they have the nerve to tell you, "Yeah, like, I need to tell you about my dating history, and my previous relationship was with ChatGPT."
And you just laugh right there at the table, and that's the end of your guys' first and only date.
That's gonna be in the future, you know? I had a breakup with my AI boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever.
I had to un- I had to, uh, [laughs] uninstall the app off of my phone. [laughs] Makes me wanna scream just like this Skillet song. See what I did there? It's K-Bear one-oh-one. Man, I need to see that band live, Bring Me the Horizon - Dehumanized. Hopefully they, uh, make their way back to the area here soon. It's been a minute. I think it was last year in August?
It was, uh, during the later part of last year. It was the same day as Chevelle and Asking Alexandria and Dead Poet Society at the Mountain America Center. And of course, I had to be at that show because I had to represent K-Bear and do all that fun stuff. But man, oh man, it would've been awesome to go to see Bring Me the Horizon, uh, Motionless in White, The Plot in You, Amira Willighagen. I should have gone to that show, because that lineup was superior.
And I didn't like the way that, uh, Chevelle treated us, you know, not allowing us to have a stage introduction, anything like that. The, the time before I tried seeing Bring Me the Horizon was when Victor and Jade basically just ripped the tickets out of my hands.
I was, uh, trying to line up an interview with Oli Sykes, and Victor was like, "Sure, here's the, uh, record rep contact to talk to.
Try to get that whole thing set up." And before I knew it,
all of a sudden Victor was set to interview Oli, and he took Jade with him, and I was so mad after that. I was so [laughs] mad that they took the, uh, the tickets away from me. They took the interview opportunity away from me. Luckily, they said half the show sucked, so that's their karma, you know? That's what they get for just taking those tickets away from me. Bring Me the Horizon, hopefully they can come back. Hopefully they can come back to... They can come to this area. Come to either the Mountain America Center or the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheater. It'd be awesome to see them at, at either venue, especially with, uh, them, uh, re-releasing Count Your Blessings along with Dehumanized.
I love that T-shirt that they have, "Make Bring Me the Horizon Heavy Again" or something like that, or "Bring Back the Old Bring Me the Horizon."
I love that they're making fun of those people. Bring back the old-- I miss the old Bring Me the Horizon. Anyway, if you wanna check out what's on our concert calendar, all the shows that are coming to our area, you can take a look at riverbendmediagroup.com/calendar, or you can click on concert calendar via the K-Bear 101, Alts 101, or Cannonball 101 apps. K-Bear 101 with Seether. All right, so we already talked about the question, what's the least attractive hobby? Then this one pops up. What hobby instantly makes you think that person is interesting? Learning a language just because they enjoy it. We had a little Russell here in the building that learned, uh, Japanese pretty fast. But that guy, that guy was just a, uh... What's the word I'm looking for? A, a sponge for knowledge. Like, he wanted to learn anything and everything. That man-- Shout out to little Russell, by the way. Graduated from ISU recently. I wonder what he's up to. I guess we'll- we'll have to have him back here in the studio, check in on him, see what he's up to. I think he had a [chuckles] I think he had a countdown clock for when he was going to quit here. He showed me that, I think, one time. Yeah, he did. I remember that. It was like, by the time he showed me, there was 32 days left. I went, "What on earth is this?" [chuckles] He's like, "Yeah, this is for when, when the clock hits zero, that's when I put in my, uh, two weeks notice, and I'm gonna let, uh, Jade know I'm done here." I'm like, "Wow, okay. That's some-- That's a baller move if I've ever seen one." He knows fluent Japanese, and so I think he lived in Japan for a short while there, too, or he studied abroad in Japan. Yeah, he did. And then he also lived in, like, Puerto Rico for a short while there.
Yeah, we'll have to check in and see what he's doing. What hobby instantly makes you think that person is interesting? Aviation-powered paragliding and gliding. The trust in your own ability, flight planning, unique perspective they must have is always fascinating to me. Could you imagine learning how to fly a plane?
Seeing all those different buttons in the cockpit.
That'd be quite intimidating. I know there are some comedians out there like Bill Burr, who knows how to fly a helicopter. He wanted to learn just because he wanted to. Any of the arts. Making music, painting, creating anything really. Glassblowing, that'd be such a fun one.
Woodworking, like legit woodworking, like building kitchen cabinets from a pile of, of lumber.
We have a loyal listener, The Wolf Man, that, uh, he made cabinets, and he made us, like, these, uh, these wooden boxes. I still have mine. It's full of my signed stuff. Shout out to the loyal listener, The Wolf Man.
Beekeeping for what hobby instantly, instantly makes you think that person is interesting. Have you ever met somebody that's totally into beekeeping? Nobody starts that casually, is what it says here. [chuckles] There's always, always a story. That'd be such a unique hobby. Anyway, here's Pierce the Veil. Enough of me talking about hobbies. So far, so fake. If you're spending time on the water around Island Park Reservoir this week, take this seriously. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued a health alert after harmful cy- uh, how do you say this? Cyanotoxins?
Is it cyanotoxins? C-Y-A-N-O-T-O-X-I-N-S, produced by, uh, blue-green algae, were detected in the reservoir. The toxins pose a high risk to pets and livestock, can also make people sick, especially, uh, young children. Officials say if the water looks like green paint, foam, or scum, when in doubt, stay out. And if you've got a, if you've got your dog with you, keep them out of the water, too. Pets are especially, uh, vulnerable because they'll often drink from the r- the reservoir or lick the water off of their fur. If you'd like more information on the health alert and what you should know before heading out, you can read the full news story at eastidahonews.com. Personally, I don't see a problem with this, to be honest with you. This man in Oregon got arrested for, uh, fishing. Oh, he, he uploaded a-- He, he uploaded videos of himself fishing for protected sharks, and then he was wrestling them on land. And I see one of the, uh, screenshots here from the video. He's holding the shark by its tail. Looks like a complete and utter mismatch. I mean, the shark is definitely way smaller than I imagined when I first, uh, read the headline. I thought this guy was wrestling, like, what, great whites, you know?
Megalodons. [chuckles] Those massive sharks.
But no, these, uh, these, these sharks are for some reason protected, so yeah, he's, he's gonna face, uh, some jail time for just doing this. There was, uh, also some massive fines, potentially being banned from certain areas. This guy was just
wrestling sharks. That's it. [chuckles] I like how somebody commented, "Not manly enough to wrestle them in water."
At least he recorded himself.
Love when people do illegal things and then bust that camera out.
I see another one. As a native Oregonian, this is what I like to see.
I mean, what benefit
do we get keeping these sharks around, huh?
W- w- why? You know, I, I, I'd understand if it was, like, an endangered species of, like, I don't know, rhino, tiger.
There are people that, uh, just hunt those animals for no reason.
That's more of a crime than just some guy wrestling sharks, you know? Take-- Get all the sharks out of the water. That's what I say. As a guy who is deeply afraid of, uh, big fish, I want this guy to come to Laguna Beach with me,
and if a tiger shark comes anywhere close, he can just rip it out of the water, chuck it, throw it onto the sand, have it die right there on the beach. Again, I'm joking. I'm joking. Here's Scatterbrain, Fast Lane, on K-Bear 101. Peach's Pit Party right here on K-Bear 101. If you live in American Falls or you're heading that way, you'll want to know about this. The city has issued a precautionary boil water advisory after a loss of, uh, water pressure increased the, uh, risk of contamination in the water system. Yay. Gotta love that. You're trying to stay hydrated.
Are you trying to... I don't know. You just use water for whatever, you know? [chuckles] What am I even talking about? Oh, forget it. Never mind. For-- I, I, my brain's completely fried from this heat, I tell you what. City crews are working to restore and stabilize the system, but until the advisory is lifted, officials say you should bring tap water to a, uh, rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing your teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, or giving it to your pets. If you would like the latest updates and more information on this advisory, head over to eastidahonews.com. I've been, uh, slowly revamping my apartment, trying to make it more, I don't know, sophisticated, adult, uh, have an overall cohesive theme. I don't know what I'm l- exactly looking for. I'm just trying to make it better than what it was before. I don't want somebody to see it and go, "Wow, what a bachelor pad." You know? That, that's my overall goal. And so I was talking with, uh, one of my friends over the weekend, and his wife does some interior design on, on the side. And so she ends up FaceTiming me, and she's asking me all these questions about themes and which, which design I prefer out of all these different pictures. I felt like I was getting tested.
If there was a right answer that she was looking for. But
she was telling me all these different, like, uh, there's Scandinavian design, there's a cottagecore, there's all this stuff. I'm like, "What on earth are you talking about?
I just want furniture that looks good together." And so I decided to buy a shelf lamp over the weekend to replace the, uh, the lamp in my living room, and I had to drive to Rigby, go pick it up from this couple. The, the, the lamp itself was 10 bucks,
and it works just fine. It has two little shelves. I put my plant on one, my little, uh, statue on the other.
Looks great, but the problem is, is that it's so dang hot outside that the, uh, electrical plugin,
it melted
from being inside this trailer outside this person's house. The, uh, plastic part melted,
which I didn't know that
battery-operated light bulbs exist, so I'll have to use those for that lamp, but it was only a 10-buck lamp on Facebook Marketplace. No big deal. No big deal. But even the heat ruining the furniture that I wanna buy. I also bought myself a nice full-length mirror for my living room in this specific spot that, like, right as you walk in through the front door, I'll be able to see myself.
So I feel like if I get home late one night, I'm gonna s- I'm gonna scare myself over and over. I'm, hey, I'm gonna scare myself over and over and over again because I'll open my door and I'll see this giant fat figure just standing there in the living room and then realize, oh, it's me. This one is totally disgusting. A viral video from a Carnival cruise has sparked plenty of outrage and disgust. A passenger was filmed in a dining area repeatedly scraping the bottom of her foot with a dining fork before continuing her meal. She used the fork to eat after?
Other passengers [laughs] were visibly disgusted, and the gross video, uh, quickly racked up millions of views online. The, the woman dubbed Foot Fungus Lady by the person who posted the footage was reportedly aboard the Carnival Sunrise. After the incident was reported, Carnival says crew members confronted the guest, immediately removed the fork from service. Oh, I forgot, they have to wash those, don't they? They have to reuse those forks.
In a statement, Carnival said, "We can confirm that forks are intended for food, not foot care."
Oh, that's almost as bad as go- going viral for being a Karen. You're, you're going viral for being the disgusting lady on a cruise ship. What if you find out, like, that lady's related to you? Like, she's your great aunt or whatever?
That, that's something one of my family members would do, specifically on my dad's side. Well, I, I shouldn't say that because my mom's sister also... She seems like the type that would do something like that. Just seeing this 70-year-old woman by the name of Terry. Her husband's disgusting. Uncle Curtis, oh. [laughs] I can see him using that fork over and over again. I can see him using that fork to pick his nose and then using it right after. Anyway, [laughs] that's today's What the Headline right here on KBEAR 101. Hey, so those robotaxis, those Waymos, those Waymo driverless cars are doing so much better out there on the roads compared to actual people driving their cars. I was reading something here. According to a new study, those Waymo driverless cars crashed 68% less, less often than human drivers over 50 million miles of operation between 2021 and 2024. The study, which collected data in Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Austin, Texas, also found that Waymo vehicles recorded 85% fewer single-vehicle crashes and 81% fewer injury-causing collisions when compared to human drivers. I mean, we've teamed up with Grent-- Grent. Brent Gordon Law, because we care that you have a great and safe summer. And there was a time last week where I was driving around, I was running all these different errands. Sure enough, I saw so many different car collisions. People, uh, running into one another on Sunnyside, Holmes, et cetera. Gotta be extra safe, you know. I, I think we should replace all those 1J drivers. We should have them just take Waymos from here on out, you know?
Nobody from the 1J area is allowed to drive a car anymore. If I was in charge, we'd get those people Waymos, their own personal driverless vehicles. They get driven around everywhere. I feel like car crashes would go down significantly here in the East Idaho area because of that. Hey, there was that story that, that I talked about, about that guy in Oregon that was, uh, taking out those protected, uh, those protected sharks out of the waters and wrestling them on land. He might have just been inspired because it's, it's Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. Couple of highlights that, uh... Well, I'm sure some of these already aired today. House of Sharks, a shark version of the HBO show House of the Dragon, explaining how great white sharks in the water around New Zealand battle for dominance. Experts risk, risk it all to reveal the bloodlines that determine their allegiances. That would suck to, to work as a guy who has to go into the waters and go take a look at these sharks. I saw a video some guy recorded when he was, uh, scuba diving. W-was it deep sea snor- Was it snorkeling? Was it scuba diving? I don't know. Maybe just scuba diving. I'm not exactly sure, but this guy was an idiot because he's in the w- he's in the deepest part of the ocean, and he looks to the right, and there's a whale that is going out of the water, lands right back in right next to him, and he looks down, and the whale's right below him. That's, that's my biggest nightmare. Whales terrify me. Terrify me. [laughs] Anyway, I'm up on out of here for the day. I hope you have a fantastic rest of your evening, and I'll see you back here tomorrow on KBEAR 101. Peach out. [upbeat music] Thanks for listening to Peaches Pit Party, the podcast.
